Farewell Season II, Greetings Season III

Livonia - After another grueling 13 events over 11 months, Season II of the Fish 'N' Chips Poker Tour is in the books and Season III is upon us. Congratulations again to Season II Champion Jim S. Here are some facts and stats from Season II:
  • A total of 37 players participated in the 11 regular season events this season compared to 36 from Season I.
  • Out of the 37 players, the top 8 in the overall final standings earned a seat in the Championship.
  • Out of these 8 players, just 4 of them played in all 11 regular season events. Last season, 7 of the top 8 played in all 11 events.
  • Jason Tr. finished 1st overall in the league standings with 55.82 points and earned Player of the Year honors. This was well short of the benchmark 66.76 points put up by Season I POTY, Mike T.
  • A total of 3 players earned 2 regular season wins this season. This included Jason Tr. with wins in S2E1 and S2E8, Jim S. with wins in S2E2 and S2E5 and Matt Pe. with wins in S2E10 and S2E11. Last season, Mike T. was the only player to win 2 events.
  • Despite missing 4 of the 11 regular season events each, Matt Pe. and Jim S. not only managed to win 2 events each but also managed to finish 3rd and 4th place overall in the season standings.
  • Jim S. would go on to win this seasons' Championship Event. Ironically Jim's daughter Anita G. won last season's Championship.
  • Only 4 of this season's 11 regular season events featured a rebuy. Last season 9 of the 11 events featured a rebuy. However S2E8 included unlimited rebuy's.
  • Just like last season, a total of 32 rebuy's were purchased this season. But 22 of these 32 rebuy's were purchased in just one event, S2E8: the unlimited rebuy event.
  • Out of the 32 rebuy's purchased this season, a total of 3 players cashed. Keith K. accomplished this by cashing in 4th place in S2E4 and both Jim S. and Jim O. cashed in 2nd and 3rd place respectively in S2E8.
  • Overall odds of cashing on a rebuy increased to 3:32. As always, 100% of all rebuy proceeds go to the event prize pool.
Like Season II, Season III will include:
  • 11 regular season events with the same scoring formula.
  • The top 8 point finishers earning a seat in the Championship Event.
  • Positions 9-17 earning a seat in the Championship Qualifier. The winner gets the 9th and final seat in the Championship.
  • A majority of the buy-in's will remain at $40.
  • A majority of the events will be no limit hold'em.
  • The limit hold'em event will return by popular demand.
  • The omaha high event with a full rebuy will also return by popular demand.
  • The unlimited rebuy, no limit hold'em event returns as well.
Changes in Season III will include:
  • 6 events this season will offer a rebuy.
  • S3E2 will include a starting stack of T150,000 in chips and use the standard T100,000 blinds schedule. The buy-in for this event is increased to $50.
  • S3E4 will be no limit hold'em position poker with a full rebuy. You can learn more about position poker by clicking here.
  • S3E7 will be a double-elimination, no limit hold'em, head's-up tournament.
  • S3E10 will be this season's deep stack event. The starting stack will be increased to T300,000 in chips using the standard T100,000 blinds schedule. The buy-in will remain at $60.
  • This season will feature a River Jackpot. We'll sell 40 cards per event (everyone can buy 2, then if less than 40 are sold, you can buy more at the first break). If you pick the card that becomes the river card on the last hand of the tournament, you win the jackpot (if we sell all 40 cards, you basically get your $40 buy-in back). If no one picks the river card, the jackpot rolls over to the next tournament. The last tournament of the season, we'll sell all 52 cards. There is no rake on the River Jackpot -- just a random/luckbox way to re-distribute wealth that should not affect tournament play in any way.
  • The season long props bet will be extended to all regular players and will include rotisserie scoring in 5 catagories. The catagories include: 1. final tables, 2. cashes, 3. fewest rebuys, 4. eliminations and 5. average finish. The player with the highest point total after the 11 regular season events will win the prop. Players interested in participating will have to pay the $50 bet prior to the start of event #1.
Good luck to everyone in Season III!
